Project 'Slomega'

Quickly draw an outline of where I'm gonna be making the big cuts on the passenger side of the car, as well as my tagging the trunklid. The last pic is basically a picture of the drivers side of the car is damn near done!, alittle more grinding is apparently in order, altho I think Brandon & Shelly's job the other night (3-4 hours) was good enough.

So we started up the car to turn it around so that we'd have more room to attend to the passengers side of the car. Being such a beautiful spring day outside, we decided to do some grinding and cutting outside. Plus, I just finished swiping and cleaning out the garage.

So off with what's left of the passenger quarter, and I cut out the tail-end section where Kyle left his mark on it from last fall. We'll hang it up in his garage.

Not much good metal left there if we need to make up some patch panels later on. You wonder why our cars rust out so badly? .. check out all that sand/salt thats been collecting up in the rear quarter. So we'll clean that out ...

Took some shots of the inside infront of the inner wells. Don't like the looks of the metal there, betcha that's gonna turn into a big upcoming patching project. Took some closeups of how the inner well lines up with the rocker, as we encountered some problems on the other side and weren't sure how things sat. Now we'll know.

Shelly & Brandon hit the quarter again with the grinders, as Brandon feels they could still work'em some of the welds a little more ...

GOOD GOD!, these 2 spent 4 hours on it lastnight, I was so impressed with their work but they weren't satisfied. Who am I to argue.

Taking a look at the passenger side door jam, and it diffinitly looks better then what we had on the drivers side. After cleaning it up with a wired wheel, I noticed some small pinholes, which I thought I'd be able to just weld up. WRONG!, so I stopped there and decided to make up a small patch like we did for the other side.

Had to reweld the marker light patch, as when I first welded it up, I had the welder on the wrong heat setting and the welds weren't so nice and some didn't hold up to the grinder. The welds to the inner fender looked good tho, as well as the taillight area cleaned up nicely, again a tribute to Brandon & Shelly's hard work with the grinders.

BEAUTIFUL WORK !!! Just look at that, I mean, I won't need near the dyna-hair/bondo I woulda, if I would left it the way I had grinded it. I watched Brandon closely too, to pick up on his technique should I be stuck doing the other side myself. Hopefully I can lure both him and Shelly again to help me out :)
